When I was in high school I only went to the football games to hang out with my friends and my boyfriend who later became my husband.
Once married I began to understand that on Saturday's and Sunday's I would either be off on my own or on the sofa next to my sweetie watching the game. I of course choose, to watch the game. Until, I got tired of now knowing what the heck was going on. He would try and explain, but my girl brain just wasn't hip to the sporty lingo he was throwing out. Ugh.
Then, WOO HOO, ESPN got ESP or something, because they started doing these super cool "human interest" pieces on the teams and players. I. WAS. HOOKED. These boys had families and awesome stories to share. I became more interested in learning what the calls meant and how scoring was done. Don't get me wrong, I still don't always know what the calls mean, until it's confirmed by my amazing hubby, but I'm getting better. And yes, I totally yell at the screen more that he does. And have been known to call the coach on my finger and thumb phone to tell him what he is doing wrong. (I'm certain he can hear me and will bend to my will)
Now that our girls are in high school and in the band, we find ourselves at every home game and a few away games as well. High school football is a blast to watch. These kids have passion on the field. I love throwing on my sweatshirt that screams our schools colors and sitting on the cold bleachers with my hand tied fleece blanket (yes, orange and blue) and cheering on the team.
This week is homecoming for our school and they play the team from the school Superman and I graduated from. We root for both teams, of course.
I am trying a new recipe for our pre-game tailgate this week. I found it on Pinterest (I'm pretty sure my hubby just rolled his eyes at the mention of that site) this week that I am going to try. It's called:
You can find the recipe on this great blog Six Sisters Stuff.
I will post pictures of how to make it later today as well as some pictures of our tailgating crew.
