The Wild Women of my life

What happens when 16 women from different states, backgrounds, and generations come together in an amazing house for one long weekend?

One Wild Weekend!
I think any woman would be excited to have a weekend away. From schedules, requirements, stress, and laundry:) I look forward to this week almost as much as I look forward to date night with my Superman.
This annual trip for me came about when my friend Cindy told me I was going with her. This is Cindy and her loving husband Tim:

Isn't she just beautiful?

Since, this is my blog, and Cindy isn't here to dispute it, here is how I remember the story's beginning.

Cindy is my friend and was my girl scout co-leader. We met at an info meeting for scouts and I asked her to help me out with the troop. Because I am a bit of a control freak, I wanted a co-leader to be a fun lady who would have a blast with the girls, and do what I needed done. Which was basically show up and go on fun trips with us. Cindy is always a blast and she loves working with girls to make things fun for them and enrich their lives. She was the perfect partner.

Five years ago, Cindy told me that she was in a mom's club back in Georgia and some of the ladies wanted to do a girls weekend. They would be traveling to Gatlinburg, Tennessee in October. She then said, you are going with me so I don't have to drive alone. Then I learned that there were actually going to be 15 other ladies. I only knew Cindy. Now, I am a pretty comfortable person, and can make friends easily, but I was extraordinarily reluctant. In fact, the night before we left I lay in bed having a bit of a freak out, telling my husband they were sure to hate me, and I would spend the weekend feeling insecure and lonely. I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!!!
I met some of the most amazing women and couldn't be more blessed to have them in my life. Over the last five years the locations may have changed and we have new ladies join us and some not able to make it, but all in all it is the most cherished weekend we share.
Cindy has moved back to Georgia, so now I travel alone, but when I get there its like coming home. This year we traveled back to Tybee Island, Georgia.

This is the house where we stayed this year and last..........

The weekend consists of love, laughter, card playing, more card playing, movies, (this years fav was Stupid, Crazy, Love), usually some happy tears, and sometimes tears of life's frustrations. It's amazing to work through life with these women and share triumphs from the past year.

Saying I love these women, doesn't seem to truly capture how much I look forward to spending time with them. They have made a permanent imprint on my heart and I cannot wait to see them all again next year. And the best part; I told my friend Anna that she is going with me next year, so I don't have to travel alone:)

Is this by any chance Paula Deans house? I spent a week at Tybee and loved it. We went to the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta and then spent the next full week at the beach.

NO, but that would be so cool to stay in her house. The owner of this house is a guy who works for members mark whiskey. He built it for his retirement.

Baby laughing!! Short teaser

I have been wanting to blog about becoming an empty nester for almost a year. I want to not only create a place for me to look back on to see what we did in the early years of our newly found freedom, but also to encourage other women who are in the same nest I am(or soon will be) "I'll have so much more time"    "How will I ever fill my days without my girls here?"    "Will my superman and I get bored with one another?" I truly thought I would have more time!!  2016 was a heck of a year for our family from beginning to end! I hope to share so much with you in my posts from fun adventures we took, crafts we did, restaurants we tried, heartache we endured, and how to make to most of life on a daily basis.  One thing I have found to be true...I don't miss all the laundry
